A registered dietitian (RD) is a state and federally licensed health profession that requires a master's degree, completion of supervised practice, passing a national exam and completion continuing education. A nutritionist is an unregulated job title that can be used by anyone, regardless of their training.
An RD is formally trained in providing medical nutrition therapy and therapeutic counseling. We are also trained in analyzing and interpreting scientific research in order to apply it in practice. RD's are the only nutrition professionals who are allowed to work in healthcare and are bound by a code of ethics.
I work with adolescents and adults who are serious about improving their health and their relationship with food. My clients are committed and ready to make lasting change. They have an open mind to new perspectives, are willing to do the work, and are capable of making an investment into their wellbeing.
No body is the same, so no treatment plan is the same! On average, clients work with me anywhere from three months to one year - but it is based entirely on your needs! You and I will keep an open dialogue about where we're at in treatment.
The initial session is 60 minutes and follow-up sessions are 45 minutes.
While there is no time requirement, it is highly recommended that we meet once each week for the first 8 weeks. This is to establish a strong therapeutic relationship, take swift action and make adjustments, all so that you get the most efficient and effective care. After that you and I will maintain an open dialogue to determine the frequency that best suits your needs.
Unfortunately, insurance companies do not support the level of patient-centered care I provide. I am considered an out-of-network provider with all major insurance companies and I do not communicate directly with insurance companies for any matter.
If you have out-of-network benefits, or are unsure if you do, I can provide you with a superbill to submit as part of your claim. I recommend you to contact your insurance provider and ask the following:
-
Do I have out-of-network coverage for medical nutrition therapy (CPT code 97802 and 97803)?
-
What diagnoses are covered?
-
Are Telehealth visits covered?
-
What percentage of the visit is covered?
-
Do I have an out-of-network deductible?
-
Is there a limit to the number of visits per year?
-
How do I submit a claim?
-
Payment is due before our initial consultation and a credit card is required to keep on file. Payments will then be processed following each individual follow-up session. Payments can be made via credit card (applicable fees apply) or Zelle (no fees). Payments made through Zelle must be sent by the end of each month, or the card on file will be charged (plus applicable fees).
Cancellations: 48 hours advance notice is required for cancelling appointments without charge. If an appointment is canceled within 48 hours of the appointment time, you will be responsible for paying the applicable full session rate. Rescheduling: 24 hours advance notice is required for rescheduling appointments, and the appointment must be rescheduled within the same week (pending my availability). If you reschedule an appointment within 24 hours the appointment time, you will be responsible for paying the applicable full session rate. Lateness: There is a 15-minute grace period from the start of the scheduled appointment time. If you fail to show for the appointment within the first 15 minutes of the schedule time, you will be responsible for paying the applicable full session rate.
